Sunrises

I really wish that I could get myself out of bed every morning to see the sunrise. But, I know that will never happen. However, I would love it if I could. I think that that would be one of the best ways to slowly and calmly wake up. When my family and I would go skiing for the day when we lived in Canada, we would see the sunrise while we were driving into the mountains. It was one of the most beautiful sights that I ever saw. Sadly, though, I really don't remember it that well. I can only now wish that I would have fully appreciated the glory of the Canadian Rockies when it was right in my backyard. I've realized that you don't know how beautiful something is until you get taken away from it.

Flames vs. Ducks: my thoughts on the game

This post states my feelings about the flames 3-1 victory last night against the Anahiem ducks. I thought the game was key in order to raise the morale of the Flames as a whole. You never want to go into a long break having lost your last game. Maybe this win could be the one that sparks the fire of the Flames and sets them on a tear the rest of the season. But, I doubt that it will be that easy. I thought it was great that Iggy got two of the three goals for the Flames. Ever since November, Iggy had really cooled off. But, I think that could change. And, Eric Nystrom finally ended his scoring drought of 44 games! I'm thrilled. The flames need him and others like him to produce like Mark Giordano has done this year.

My Thoughts on the Olympics

Personally, I can't wait for the Olympics. I'm very proud that my country will be hosting the Olympics. And, it makes it a lot better that it's the winter Olympics. If Canada can win Gold, that would be awesome. This is the third time the Olympics have been in Canada, and I doubt it will be the last. My favorite thing in the winter Olympics (bescides hockey) is probably the skeleton race. It would be really scarry, but I would love to do it. Olympic hockey is really cool, and I love it. Everything in the winter Olympics is so cool, unlike the Summer Olympics. To conclude, I can't wait for the winter Olympics.

The Jokinen trade: good or bad

The flames recently sent Olli Jokinen and Brandon Prust to the New York Rangers in exchange for Ales Kotalik and Christopher Higgins. I'm not sure whether I like this trade or not. I really liked Jokinen, even though he hadn't produced as much this year as I would have liked. I'm pretty sad to see Jokinen leave, and it isn't any different for me with Brandon Prust. He's the ideal Flame. He works hard, he fights a lot, and can throw big hits too. I wish Darryl Sutter could have trade some other player other than Prust. But, players come and go. It's just part of the game, I guess. What helps to compensate for the loss of Prust is made up by the fact that I think Kotalik is really going to help the team. Maybe some new faces will help give the Flames some energy, and break this funk that the Flames are in right now. And, to top it off, Higgins sounds good too. So, though I'm not overjoyed at this trade like I was with the Phaneuf trade, I think the Jokinen trade might work out very well for the Flames.

Why snow rocks!

This post is wholly devoted to showing people the true awesomeness of snow. If you don't like snow or cold in general, I'm confident that this post will help you to see the light and enjoy snow. The main reason why snow is so awesome is because it is so beautiful to look at. It truly is a testimony to God's unimaginably supreme wisdom in creating snow. After a snowstorm, it is alway so calm and peaceful. There are never any bugs or anything gross like that. The ground cannot look cooler then when it has ben plastered with a layer of beautiful, pure white. And, You can often make money for shoveling driveways after a snowstorm. Not to mention the fact that you can sometimes get a snowday. All of those elements cumumalte into one thing: the true awesomeness of snow. So, I hope that you non-snow lovers have finally realized that snow is awesome. And, it is a symbol of the grace of God washing us clean. If you have any objections to what I say, then I respectfully disagree with you, because snow is awesome, and it always will be.

Will the flames rebound?

The answer to that question is hard to say. The flames have dropped back to seventh in the confrence, which is just too close to not even reaching the playoffs. To answer in short, I think the flames still have a chance to win the Norhwest division. But, if they are going to do that, they will have to act quickly. Time is beginning to become the Flames' greatest enemy. I say this because as the season goes on, each team tightens up and it becimes so much harder to win games. And, losses seem to have a increasingly larger impact as the season goes on. For the flames to capture the northwest division title, they must do some things. One of them is score. I think their new acquisitions will help a lot, but Iginla must be the leader. In saying that, I have full confidence that Iginla will do so.
Another thing is that Vancouver needs to start losing some games!!! If vancouver continues the play that they've shown of late, I doubt the flames can overtake them for the division lead. Right now, Vancouve has won 8 of their last ten games!! I don't think the Flames can keep up with that right now.
These next few games, I believe, could very well set the tone for the rest of the season. Tomorrow night, they play the Ottowa Senators in Ottawa. The seators have done very well lately, and I'm not sure Calgary can get 2 points from that game.
This paragraph is wholly devoted to thanking Mikka Kipursoff (the goalie of the Flames) for how awesome he has been this year. Without him, the Flames would suck. He never gets enough credit for the time and effort he puts into playing hockey. He has been the foundation of the Flames, and will probably always be until he retires. And, the best thing is that he never gets injured! That's important because our backup goalie is really young, and isn't very good. I know that's true because I watched him play when me and some of my family went to St. Louis to see the Flames play. We lost 4-3. In conclusion, the predominant reason for the Flames' success is our goalie, Mikka Kiprusoff.
To conclude this post, the Flames still have time to regain the northwest division lead, and maybe even triumphantly hoist the stanley cup, and satisfy the want of all Flames fans. Sorry, that was just me daydreaming for a second. But, they cannot wait. Time is running out, and soon it may be too late. But, if Brent Sutter can gather his troops, and Ales Kotalik can keep his tie-down on, I think the Flames may have victory close within their grasp.
